Building theological community for a flourishing African Anglican Church.
Supporting discussion and innovation in theological formation.
We are a community founded to connect high-level theology directly with the realities of the Church at the grassroots.
Our goal is to spark concrete, long-term collaboration and partnership across the global Anglican Communion in future research, publication, and theological education.
We do this by bringing together theologians, church leaders, scholars and practitioners from across Africa and the wider Anglican Communion for theological reflection, dialogue and collaboration.
Our purpose is to answer the question: ‌ What is African Anglicanism?

This community first gathered together in the autumn of 2026 in Oxford. We discussed the make-up of African Anglicanism - Roots, Routes and Rites.
We’d love you to find out more about these initial steps and what is to come.
theology
In partnership, Relay Trust and Wycliffe Hall, Oxford, welcome collaboration with theological institutions from around the world. Already networked with many African schools of Theology and scholars, we look forward to growing a wider, richer and fuller academic community.
We value contextual theological rigour highly, not just for its own sake, but so that the Church may be equipped with grassroots leaders who have been trained, equipped and encouraged to bring the Word of God accurately to believers throughout Africa. This community aims to establish a greater reciprocity between grassroots experience and theological endeavour to establish a flourishing, discipled Church.

Improving theological education happens within the context of a larger community. Our approach extends beyond theological institutions to seven work streams committed to bringing theory to practice in local African churches. We welcome new members who share this vision.
